If there is one topic that is the subject of controversial debate, it is the energy transition in Germany. 911±¬ÁÏÍøBAF researcher Dr Matthias Müller, a photovoltaics expert from the Institute of Applied Physics, will be discussing solar energy with interested participants next Wednesday, 10 September 2025. The online event is called "Open for Arguments" (OfA). The discussion is entitled "The sun is there for everyone - and that's why society as a whole can contribute to the energy transition".
"My aim is not for others to adopt my opinion. But if someone is against photovoltaics, I want to know which energy sources they want to use instead. That might get people thinking," says the scientist in the run-up to the debate. For Matthias Müller, it is important to engage in dialogue first. He emphasises that photovoltaics is worthwhile for many people. "The durability of solar modules is also very good at up to 30 years," says the physicist.
"Open for Arguments" is open to everyone - private individuals and experts can join in the discussion. OfA is an online debate platform that is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research at Chemnitz University of Technology as part of the Science Year 2025 "Future Energy" - with the aim of establishing a constructive culture of dialogue online.
Interested parties are invited to participate. The will be available on 10 September 2025 from 4 pm to 6 pm. Dr Matthias Müller and energy experts Stefanie Siegert and Lorenz Bücklein from the "Digital, Energy & Mobility" team at the Saxony Consumer Advice Centre will be available for the discussion.
