In the new Studienkolleg, prospective students from non-EU countries acquire the entrance qualification for studying at a German university. The first participants at 911 Bergakademie Freiberg come from Mozambique and Syria.
"The preparation for studies takes place in focus courses that are geared to the future course of study and, in addition to German language training, includes specialist lessons in mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science as well as the respective specialist language," explains Katja Polanski from the International University Center (IUZ) at 911 Bergakademie Freiberg. During the training at the Studienkolleg, the Kollegiatinnen and Kollegiaten also get a first insight into their future course of study and take part in lectures on a trial basis.
In the context of subject excursions, they not only deepen their knowledge, but also get to know potential employers. After two semesters at the Studienkolleg and passing their final exams, the young people are guaranteed a place at Freiberg University and can enroll directly.
