Project description
Mine rescue is an integral part of research projects at the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Bergakademie Freiberg, as well as in teaching and student working groups. The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Bergakademie Freiberg is heavily involved in current issues relating to the reorganisation of mine rescue services in Central Germany, the development of innovative rescue concepts such as Tactical Medical Mining Rescue and the transfer of knowledge to other sectors of the economy.
Project goals
In addition to research, the integration of mine rescue services into teaching has been an important part of the programme for years. Modules such as "Student mine and gas rescue services" and "Safety and rescue services in the raw materials industry" are designed to prepare students for their future professional practice and sensitise them to relevant real-life scenarios. The intensive interweaving of teaching, research and practice is demonstrated by numerous collaborations, such as with Wismut GmbH or the . Joint theoretical and practical exercises are carried out regularly.
In addition to national endeavours, international cooperation is also constantly promoted. The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Bergakademie Freiberg takes part in international mine rescue competitions, such as the MERD competition organised by the Colorado School of Mines (Mine Emergency Response Development), which takes place every two years. At the MERD competition in 2023, the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Bergakademie Freiberg's student mine and gas protection brigade took an excellent 2nd place out of a total of 7. Click here for the .
